VALVE RADIO REPAIRS

VINTAGE VALVE RADIO REPAIRS

The demand for repairs and restoration work to vintage radios is increasing rapidly. Whether it's because people prefer the look and sound of an old valve wireless, or they just want childhood memories brought back, there's more demand for this type of work than ever before. However, there are a few things to check before having your radio repaired. Is the radio engineer qualified to do the work? Will you be given an estimate for the work? Will the repair work be guaranteed? Is there a phone number on the web site? There's nothing better than talking to the engineer about your vintage radio before sending it off to be repaired or restored, so do phone first. The last thing you want are problems a few months after the repair work has been carried out, so check the points above.

I'm a City and Guilds qualified radio and TV engineer, but it takes more than qualifications to repair or restore a vintage valve radio. Nothing can beat experience. For example, a certain make and model of radio might have an annoying hum in the loudspeaker. Forget the service manual... Experience will tell a good engineer what the fault is. I've been repairing valve radios for over forty years, so you know that your radio will be in good hands.

I can carry out a minor repair just to get your radio working, or I can undertake a full restoration on your vintage radio - which includes the wood or Bakelite cabinet. Estimates are free, so you have nothing to lose.

As I'm based in southern England, my radio repairs are mainly from the UK. However, I've received radio repair work from America, Cyprus, France and Spain, amongst other countries. The internet has made the world smaller so, no matter where you live, contact me and we'll chat about your vintage radio.
